The wHEALth Exchange Project
The wHEALth Exchange Project is a trauma-informed think tank dedicated to helping communities move from surviving trauma to building lasting wellbeing.

We focus on understanding how trauma affects individuals, families, and communities — and on identifying practical, community-rooted approaches that support recovery, resilience, and long-term health.

Trauma is not only a personal experience; it is often shaped by systems, environments, and histories. Our work explores how emotional health, physical health, economic stability, and social conditions are connected, and how communities and institutions can reduce harm while creating environments that actively support healing.

What We Do

Research

We conduct accessible, community-informed research that examines the impact of trauma and highlights effective recovery-centered models across different settings.

Community Dialogue

We host conversations that bring together practitioners, community members, and leaders to share knowledge, lived experience, and practical strategies for healing-centered work.

Frameworks and Tools

We translate research into usable frameworks, guidance, and resources that help organizations and communities become more recovery-centered and trauma-responsive.

Our Approach

Our work is grounded in trauma-informed principles, including safety, trust, collaboration, cultural humility, and respect for lived experience. We believe healing and strategy belong in the same room.
While one area of our research focuses on how trauma uniquely impacts Black communities, our broader mission is to support healing and resilience across diverse populations. We are committed to inclusive, respectful dialogue that welcomes people of all identities and backgrounds.

How We’re Structured

The wHEALth Exchange Project operates as a program of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is dedicated to research, education, and community dialogue.
