One Final Tip for North Carolina Parents

Don't search only for the word "free."

Try:

free + your county

free + your city

free + your child's age

free + library

free + family

free + pregnancy

free + diapers

free + summer

free + teen

And check your local library, parks department, health department, school district and county government websites.

A surprising number of family resources are sitting right there — they just aren't always advertised very loudly.

Bookmark this page, check the eligibility requirements, and revisit it every few months. Free programs change, new ones appear, and availability can vary by county.

One More Resource for North Carolina Families

We've covered a lot of free resources here because having access to good information and support shouldn't depend on having a huge budget.

But sometimes the resource you need isn't a program, a printable or a website. Sometimes it's another person who knows what questions to ask, can help you prepare, and can be there when you need support.

That's part of what doula care can offer.

If you're expecting a baby in North Carolina and would like to learn more about having personalized support during pregnancy, birth and the early postpartum period, you can learn more about my doula services here.

You don't have to know exactly what you need before reaching out. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation about what's available and what support might make this season feel a little more manageable.

The free resources are here for you. And if you'd like more personalized support, I'm here for that too.
